The iPod saga continues and finishes for now

…so, the creative zen vision costed a bomb ;-( and they had the micro version of the player which was definitely not intent on getting. So, here I was, sitting with a dead iPod not able to get anywhere. And then, thanks to google, I found ilounge. Browsing thru the forums, I found a thread that exactly described the problem I was having..with a very interesting solution. It said - dismantle iPod Remove the hard disk strike it hard against your palm 4-5 times put it back in sync up your music That was probably the craziest reply I ever read. I had nothing to lose here, so I tried it out…!! guess what… it perfectly synced my 35+ GB collection. So, I’m safe for now, all of my tunes are playing okay. I haven’t dared to sync it up after this episode.

And the iPod crapped out

That is what I’ve been seeing for the last 24 hours on my iPod screen…it’s a pathetic feeling staying here when you know that all it needs is another 1.8’ disk costing around $150 from any good store. Why is it pathetic being here?? well…none of them ship to India. I called up apple support today and they gave me the same crap…it’s even there on the support site Ladies and Gentlemen…the 5 R’s of repairing your iPod -

The super cars are here

This evening, I had the pleasure of riding along side a cherry red porsche boxster S…all along necklace road…!! boy, that car is super amazing…!! That’s the second confirmed porsche sighting in the twin cities; saw the first one, a porsche cayenne, with D2 at Little Italy one night. Vista Beta is here… and it’s amazing, although I’ve been using it for about an hour’s time now…thing’s are a little confusing..for ex, it took me a good 10 min to figure out how to place the standard icons on the desktop ;-). For an OS that is running in the debug mode, it runs quite snappily on my laptop (it’s a second generation sonoma based chipset, not the latest core duo based). The UI is mind blowing; wish I had a nvidia 7900 Go under the hood of my laptop ;-(!!

And the scores are out

The month of June is very eagerly looked forward to by the management here. The reason - two scores arrive that define you as a leader. The first is the Gallup survey which shows how effective you are as a manager in terms of taking care of the team and the second is the client survey which is filled in by the end client. Bottom line, your performance as a leader is evaluated from all directions.

Goldman Sachs

…is generally considered to be the most demanding project across our company. The general word is that working for a year in the GS project is equivalent to working for two years on any other project. To average joe, it seems like a project best avoided…you get paid the same for two times the work, twice the pressure..phew…!! Why would someone want to stay on there…!! Henry Paulson is the chairman of Goldman Sachs and there was a mail from him yesterday which started like this…

The limits

I have often wondered how would a computer with all the best components would cost. I found it out last night - approx $16,000. Falcon northwest is to computers what Lamborghini is to sports cars. Exclusive, costly and nothing less than the very best. Head over to their site at www.falcon-nw.com to get a taste of what they have to offer. this was what I configured…now I wish I had that system on my desk ;-) that’s what they call day dreaming…!!

First post!!

..first post folks…sitting at the office on a holiday… that’s a funny way to begin the new blog…!! I just hope there’s enough time to spend on this blog at least…! “This side of paradise” how did I go about naming this blog? Songs were my inspiration again. Bryan Adam’s latest studio effort - “Room Service” has quite a few good songs apart from the usual mushy ones :)…! This one song somehow got into my mind and has stayed there for quite some time. In many ways, it describes where I’m now…
