Need some change yaar!!

Life has been very monotonous for the past eight weeks. timelines have been pretty devastating and I have lost track of how many saturdays I’ve spent in the office. Overall, I sure could use some change. Of late, I’ve been really contemplating on buying a SBK. the question is which one? ladies and gentlemen - presenting the contenders Honda CBR600 Yamaha YZF R6 Yamaha YZF 600 All of them are 600 cc 4 cylinder in-lines with Fuel injection. You can get an approximate milage of around 35 km/lit from these bikes, which makes them very good street bikes :). I have grown really tired of waiting for these over promised ( and possibly under delivered) 250 cc segment that is still yet to launch here.

What the eyes see and the ears hear, the mind believes

For the second time, life has taught me that it is wrong to expect something that was never meant to happen to you. The company day was on the 2nd of July and from what I had heard and seen we were easily the team walking up to the dias and taking the best project award. The evening had other plans for us. Obviously, we didn’t have our date with destiny that day, but what was more appaling was the choice of the projects which got the awards.

The iPod saga continues and finishes for now

…so, the creative zen vision costed a bomb ;-( and they had the micro version of the player which was definitely not intent on getting. So, here I was, sitting with a dead iPod not able to get anywhere. And then, thanks to google, I found ilounge. Browsing thru the forums, I found a thread that exactly described the problem I was having..with a very interesting solution. It said - dismantle iPod Remove the hard disk strike it hard against your palm 4-5 times put it back in sync up your music That was probably the craziest reply I ever read. I had nothing to lose here, so I tried it out…!! guess what… it perfectly synced my 35+ GB collection. So, I’m safe for now, all of my tunes are playing okay. I haven’t dared to sync it up after this episode.

And the iPod crapped out

That is what I’ve been seeing for the last 24 hours on my iPod screen…it’s a pathetic feeling staying here when you know that all it needs is another 1.8’ disk costing around $150 from any good store. Why is it pathetic being here?? well…none of them ship to India. I called up apple support today and they gave me the same crap…it’s even there on the support site Ladies and Gentlemen…the 5 R’s of repairing your iPod -

The super cars are here

This evening, I had the pleasure of riding along side a cherry red porsche boxster S…all along necklace road…!! boy, that car is super amazing…!! That’s the second confirmed porsche sighting in the twin cities; saw the first one, a porsche cayenne, with D2 at Little Italy one night. Vista Beta is here… and it’s amazing, although I’ve been using it for about an hour’s time now…thing’s are a little confusing..for ex, it took me a good 10 min to figure out how to place the standard icons on the desktop ;-). For an OS that is running in the debug mode, it runs quite snappily on my laptop (it’s a second generation sonoma based chipset, not the latest core duo based). The UI is mind blowing; wish I had a nvidia 7900 Go under the hood of my laptop ;-(!!

I wish

The automobile industry, especially the two wheeler segment will never change. Typical indian mentality - the first thing they ask on seeing a bike is “what’s the mileage?” it’s the standard question for every bike from the bajaj CT 100 (wow… that gives 110 km per litre) to the honda 954 CBR (wow…we don’t even have the proper roads for this baby to ride on). Mileage scores in our land and thus the big companies (with their wonderful bikes) - honda (Shine - Shines in what? mileage) , yamaha (gladiator - haha…who ever came up with that name for a 125 cc?), Kawasaki /bajaj ( LOL don’t even ask!!) are shying away from bringing the best of the lot. a 250 cc bike would be a perfect fit for the commute here… Anyways, times are slowly changing and the 250 cc bikes are here…The honda 250 CBX seems to be pretty promising…!!<

And the scores are out

The month of June is very eagerly looked forward to by the management here. The reason - two scores arrive that define you as a leader. The first is the Gallup survey which shows how effective you are as a manager in terms of taking care of the team and the second is the client survey which is filled in by the end client. Bottom line, your performance as a leader is evaluated from all directions.

Another late night!!

…at the office; so, what’s new about that?? Well…this time, I really wanted to go home and get some sleep cos tomorrow was going to be a very long and a hectic day. At 1 AM, when I was getting ready to leave, I find I’ve missed my bike keys somwhere; effectively I’m stranded at the office!! Pretty pathetic end to a relatively nice day I should say…!!…or so I thought!! the office cabs saved me at last ;-) got a cab in about half an hour’s time. Should be catching the zzz’s in about an hour’s time.
